   DID YOU KNOW?
When in San Francisco, CA, Phineas Banning always stayed in the Occidental Hotel. In fact, he died on March 8, 1885 in that hotel after sustaining injuries months before his death.

Circa 1860 needlepoint fire screen. The shield, attached to an elegant mahogany stand could be raised or lowered. Screens such as this were used by women to protect their face from the intense heat of the fire.
