From Darkness to Light: Discovering Harriett Mason

The “Keeping History Alive Series” rolls on with a lecture by Museum Director, Michael Sanborn on the remarkable figure, Harriett Mason. Former slave, Harriett Mason worked for the Banning Family in the early 1860’s at the height of the Civil War. It was her heroic actions that help saved many lives in the Los Angeles Harbor after the Ada Hancock disaster in 1863. Join us as Mr. Sanborn shines a light on this incredible woman and her impact on the Banning family and beyond.

The lecture will be held in the historic Banning Barn. It is FREE for Friends of Banning Museum members and $5 at the door for non-members.
