“From Darkness to Light: Discovering Harriet Mason” – April 27

Please join Friends of Banning Museum for a special lecture by Museum Director, Michael Sanborn. The lecture will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 10:00 am in the historic Carriage Barn.

Former slave Harriet Mason worked for the Banning Family in the early 1860’s at the height of the Civil War. It was her heroic actions that helped save many lives in the Los Angeles Harbor after the Ada Hancock disaster in 1863. Come and learn about this fascinating woman and the historic contributions that her family made to early Los Angeles history. There will be a Q & A session after the lecture.
